The Somerset Business Chamber was proud to host the "Meet the Candidates" event last night at the historic Esk Grand Hotel, drawing a strong turnout from across the region. This important community event provided voters in the Blair electorate with the opportunity to hear directly from the federal election candidates, each of whom came well-prepared and clearly articulated their vision for Australia and, more specifically, the Somerset Region.
Gratitude to Shayne Neumann, Carl Mutzelburg, Kathryn Chadwick, Brendan Kross and Paul Toner for taking the time to attend this event, ensuring the successful attention to Somerset issues and community concerns.
Pre-prepared questions from the Chamber focused on pressing business issues, while the community contributed a dynamic range of questions on topics including technology, infrastructure, Defence spending, and fiscal responsibility. It was an engaging and informative night that highlighted the diverse concerns and aspirations of our electorate.
In a lovely gesture of civic dedication, the Mayor of Somerset chose to spend his birthday at the event, joined by several local councilors, further demonstrating the significance of this forum for our community.
Feedback from attendees has been overwhelmingly positive, with one participant remarking, “Blair is spoilt for choice at this election – some great candidates who are working really hard for their beliefs.”
The Somerset Business Chamber extends its heartfelt thanks to all candidates for their commitment and participation, and to the many business and community members who attended. Your engagement ensures that the voices of Somerset continue to be heard in the democratic process.
