- 2 min read

Residents and local businesses are advised that works will soon commence to upgrade the intersection near Stanley River Bridge (east) on Wivenhoe Somerset Road.
Background
Seqwater is currently upgrading Somerset Dam as part of its Dam Improvement Program. These works will ensure the dam remains safe during extreme weather events, meets modern engineering standards, and continues to support long-term water security for the region.
To support the main dam upgrade, Seqwater has designed a new construction access point. This next stage involves upgrading access adjacent to the Stanley River Bridge.
What’s Happening
Works will include:
Initial vegetation and tree clearing within the road reserve
Civil works to establish new construction access into Seqwater land near the bridge
Timing
Commencing: Mid-March 2026
Working days: Monday to Friday
Hours: 6:00am – 6:00pm
Expected completion: October 2026 (weather and construction conditions permitting)
If there are any changes to the schedule, Seqwater will provide updates where possible.
Traffic Impacts
Motorists and businesses using Wivenhoe Somerset Road should expect:
Regular traffic delays of 2–5 minutes through the works area
Intermittent delays of up to 10 minutes during road sealing works (anticipated in March, May and July)
Intermittent traffic control during work hours
Alternative Route:Where possible, consider using Esk–Kilcoy Road to avoid delays during construction.
